The Department of Maritime Civilizations offers scholarships to acknowledge excellence in studies and research.
Yaakov Recanati Scholarship
This scholarship is granted to five excellent M.A. students according to their achievements in the undergraduate studies.
Sir Maurice and Lady Irene Hatter Scholarships
These two scholarships are granted to excellent students to encourage research in the Department of Maritime Civilizations and in the Recanati Institute of Maritime Studies.
In order to apply for these scholarships, a student’s research proposal must be accepted and approved by the Department of Maritime Civilizations committee. Any candidate is eligible for only one of the two scholarships, and only one in each degree (M.A. or Ph.D.).
Scholarship in the Name of Captain Yirmiyahu Halpern
The scholarship in the name of Captain Yirmiyahu Halpern is granted to excellent students in the Department of Maritime Civilizations to encourage research on Jewish seafaring and seamanship. In order to apply for these scholarships, a student’s research proposal must be accepted and approved by the Department of Maritime Civilizations committee.
